    Lars and The Real Girl

    Ryan Gosling as Lars

Written by Six Feet Under scribe Nancy Oliver, Lars and the Real Girl is a heartfelt comedy starring Academy-Award nominated Ryan Gosling as Lars Lindstrom a loveable introvert whose emotional baggage has kept him from fully embracing life. After years of what is almost solitude, he invites Bianca, a friend he met on the internet to visit him. He introduces Bianca to his Brother Gus (Paul Schneider) and his wife Karen (Emily Mortimer) and they are stunned. They don’t know what to say to Lars or Bianca – because she is a life-size doll, not a real person and he is treating her as though she is alive. They consult the family doctor Dagmar (Patricia Clarkson) who explains this is a delusion he’s created – for what reason she doesn’t yet know but they should all go along with it. What follows is an emotional journey for Lars and the people around him.

Craig Gillespie directed the film with Sidney Kimmel producing along with John Cameron and Sarah Aubrey. William Horberg, Bruce Toll and Peter Berg serve as Executive Producers.

Cast: Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider, Kelli Garner and Patricia Clarkson

    Director: Craig Gillespie

    Congratulations for the Best Kiss

Congratulations to Ryan and his co-star from The Notebook Rachel McAdams for their recent win at the MTV Movie Awards for Best Kiss in a movie. Ryan and Rachel re-enacted their steamy kiss on stage before they accepted their gold popcorn buckets. It was GREAT seeing Ryan on stage, though he seemed a bit shy, eh? ;)

A spin on Ryan's visit to Israel?

Melanie, visitor to (Ohhh) Ryan writes:

I noticed on the website that there was speculation about why Ryan was in Israel on New Year's and seen talking with a famous Israeli actor. Could he have been there for the lovely Natalie Portman? He has stated that she is his fav actress!

Attached was the following article bit:

JERUSALEM (AP) - Dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jewish worshippers confronted Natalie Portman and her co-star, objecting to the couple kissing during the filming of a scene beside Jerusalem's Western Wall.

The incident Tuesday evening underlined the sensitivity of the site, a remnant of the biblical Jewish temples, the holiest place where Jews can pray.

The site is controlled by strictly observant Jews. Male and female worshippers are separated by a barrier perpendicular to the wall, following Orthodox Jewish rules forbidding casual contact between the sexes.

Police said they had to step in when worshippers spotted Portman and Israeli actor Aki Avni embracing and kissing as part of a scene for "Free Zone." The daily Yediot Ahronot said ultra-Orthodox Jews charged the couple, shouting, "Immoral, immoral!"

Police said they asked the actors to leave and return later, and they agreed.

The rabbi in charge of the site, Shmuel Rabinovitch, said that codes of conduct under religious and state law prohibit acting or romantic interaction near the wall. "That code was not followed," he said.

The Israeli-born Portman, 23, has been studying at Hebrew University in Jerusalem in recent months.

    Thank you Melanie! :)
